Endodontist with Sedation in Rochester, MN

At Rochester Endodontics, we understand that most people have some form of dental anxiety. We are pleased to offer multiple endodontist sedation options to make you more comfortable during your procedure. If you are fearful of dental treatments or simply want a more relaxing experience, endodontic sedation may be an excellent option for you.

Benefits of Sedation for Endodontic Procedures

While not every patient will require sedation, it can be beneficial for many. Choosing to have dental sedation for your upcoming treatment can allow you to:

  • Calm nerves or anxiety related to your treatment
  • Accomplish multiple procedures at one appointment
  • Complete longer or more complex treatments
  • Simply relax because you can!

Sedation Options

Our dental office in Rochester provides multiple levels of sedation depending on your unique needs and concerns, each with specific advantages. At your evaluation, we will discuss the level of sedation recommended based on your treatment, procedure length, and comfort level.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is the lightest form of dental sedation, but it is effective and convenient for varying levels of anxiety. We recommend this form during most treatments, as it helps you feel relaxed quickly. Nitrous oxide is administered through a nosepiece as you breathe normally, and the best part is that the effects are diminished as soon as the gas is turned off. There’s no need for anyone to accompany you at your appointment, and you can go about your day as usual.

IV Sedation

Intravenous (IV) Sedation is the strongest form of dental sedation. It involves injecting the sedative medication directly into the bloodstream through an IV. This is the best option for people with severe anxiety or who need to complete several procedures. Our endodontists collaborate closely with an experienced anesthesiologist to ensure your safety. They will monitor your vital signs and adjust the level of sedation as necessary. Although you may feel like you are sleeping, you will still be responsive under IV sedation. With this form of sedation, someone will need to provide transportation to and from your appointment. You may also need someone to monitor you for a brief period afterward, as patients may feel groggy while they recover. Dr. Gray is an IV sedation endodontist, as is Dr. Zaibek, for your convenience.
